About Pras Kayilasanathan

A Canadian-based financial professional, Pras Kayilasanathan is a senior leader on the mergers and acquisitions team at BDO Canada, LLP. In his capacity as a Director, Pras serves as an advisor to clients and companies with respect to their capital structuring, acquisition strategies, and divestitures. Beyond that, he also handles all other aspects relating to M&A transactions, from deal origination, to negotiation, and, ultimately, execution. Pras Kayilasanathan has been a Director at BDO Canada, LLP since 2018, and has played an integral role in numerous transactions including PayFacto’s acquisition of Posera, and CIC Capital's marquee investment into Highlight Motor Group.

Mr. Kayilasanathan began his career over a decade ago. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies from Trent University, and an MSc. in Global Politics from the London School of Economics, he joined Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, LLP, as a corporate lawyer shortly after graduating from the Faculty of Law at Queen’s University (as a JD-holder). Pras practiced corporate finance and M&A law for several years, acting for both public and private buyers and sellers. Between law and investment banking, Pras briefly led business development for CentrePoint Capital Advisors.

Following his work in business development, Mr. Kayilasanathan returned to the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University to earn his MBA. This enabled him to join Jefferies, LLC, as an Associate in the Investment Banking department in New York City. In his role as an investment banker for Jefferies, LLC Mr. Kayilasanathan completed domestic and international financial transactions for numerous corporate issuers and private equity firms, including FLY Leasing, DHX Media and SESAC. After some years in New York City and gaining Wall Street experience and broad exposure to US capital markets, Mr. Kayilasanathan decided to parlay the experience and know-how back home (Toronto, Canada) to BDO Canada, and thus he subsequently assumed his current position as a Director on BDO's Toronto-based M&A team.
